Universal Industrial Services designs, fabricates, and installs balcony balustrade packages - full-width balconies, Juliet balconies, and Junction balconies - for main contractors, hotel and apartment developers, architects, and homeowners across the UK. Frameless glass, semi-frameless, post-mounted, and metal balustrade systems are all fabricated in-house and detailed against BS 6180 barrier loading, BS 5395 stair geometry, and BS 8300 accessibility. Family-owned and second-generation run since 1994, with £10 million each of PL and EL cover, and a 12-month defect liability period on all steelwork.

Full-width, Juliet, Junction, and French balconies in frameless glass, semi-frameless, post-mounted, and metal variants. Glass finishes across clear, frosted, smoked, bronze, grey; metal options include 304/316 stainless, PVD-coated brass/bronze/copper, powder-coated mild steel, galvanised, and solid brass.

Every balustrade is detailed against BS 6180 (barrier loading), BS 5395 (stair geometry), and BS 8300 (accessibility) - the trio that makes it Approved Document K and M compliant. Clause references arrive with the UKCA-marked handover pack.

The design team sits next to the site team, not across a procurement gap. Every package is detailed with fixing substrate, sequencing, craneage, and weather constraints in mind. We plan the installation sequence first and let fabrication details follow.
Pre-welded fabrication, minimal site hot works
We prefabricate by default using coded welders to BS EN ISO 9606 across MIG, TIG, MMA, and flux-cored. Every pre-welded joint is one fewer hot-works permit, fire watch, and fume exposure on an occupied floor below or a trading retail unit.

Installation is handled in-house, not subcontracted out, with SSSTS supervisors, CSCS, PASMA, IPAF, and first aid. Lifts are planned by our in-house Appointed Person where craneage is involved.

Quotations same-day on small domestic enquiries, 1-2 weeks on larger commercial. UKCA documentation, O&M file, slip-resistance data, and the 12-month defect liability all run through one named point of contact - no handoff to a separate installer.

Yes - we've installed metalwork and balustrade packages on live retail fit-outs (Foot Asylum Oxford Street), operational hotels (Botree Hotel), and plant decks inside trading supermarkets. Out-of-hours, night-shift, and sequenced working is planned in at detailing stage, not improvised on site.
Glass: toughened laminated in clear, frosted, smoked, bronze, or grey. Metal: 304 or 316 stainless (brushed, mirror-polished, or PVD-coated in brass, bronze, copper), powder-coated mild steel to any RAL, galvanised, and solid brass or bronze. PVD is our stated in-house specialism.
Same-day quote on small domestic enquiries; 1-2 weeks on larger commercial packages. From approved drawings to installed balcony typically runs 4-6 weeks, compressed on urgent programmes when we plan it in at briefing stage.
£10 million public liability and £10 million employers' liability, both published figures. A 12-month defect liability period sits on top of the steelwork, through one named point of contact - in line with standard JCT terms.
