Steel Strengthening, Repair & Remedial Steelwork
Strengthening existing structures, adding steel and putting right what has failed. We survey, detail, fabricate and install remedial steelwork to BS EN 1090 Execution Class 2.

Making an existing structure work harder.
Not every job is a new frame. Existing structures need strengthening when loads change, steel needs adding when a building is altered, and older steelwork sometimes needs repair where it has corroded or been damaged. We survey the existing structure, then fabricate and install the strengthening and remedial steel your engineer specifies, under BS EN 1090 Execution Class 2. It is careful, access-led work around a building that is often still in use, and our own teams carry it out from survey to sign-off.
Strengthening, repairing and adding to existing steel.
Survey-led strengthening and remedial steelwork, fabricated to fit the existing structure and installed by our own teams.
Structural strengthening
Adding steel to an existing frame where loads have increased, from strengthening beams and columns to new support members.
Steel for alterations
New steel to support a structure through a remodel, opening-out or change of use.
Corrosion and damage repair
Replacing or repairing steel that has corroded or been damaged, so the structure carries its load again.
Site surveys
Measured surveys of the existing steel, so the remedial work is detailed to what is actually there.
Connections into existing steel
The connections that tie new steel into an existing frame, fabricated to sit with the original structure.
Strengthening an existing structure is careful, measured work.
Working on a building that is already standing, often still in use, leaves no room for a loose fit. We survey, detail to your engineer's design, fabricate to BS EN 1090 Execution Class 2 and install with our own teams, so strengthening and remedial steel goes in accurately and safely around the existing structure.

Why remedial steel is survey-first, always.
You are working on a structure that already exists, so you measure before you make.
About UIS-

One team around a live building
Our own teams survey, fabricate and install, so remedial work stays coordinated around a building that is often still in use.
"I've worked with UIS for several years on some high profile and very complex projects. Their attitude and work ethic are second to none - providing high quality services and products which are delivered safely and on time every time. Overall they are a pleasure to do business with and wouldn't hesitate recommending UIS for any steelwork or metalwork packages."
Questions clients ask us.
Yes. Where loads have increased or a building is being altered, we fabricate and install strengthening steel to your engineer's design, from strengthening existing members to adding new ones.
Yes. We survey the affected steel, then repair or replace it so the structure carries its load again, which is common on older industrial and commercial buildings.
Yes. Much of this work is done around live buildings, so we plan the access and sequence carefully and install with our own teams to keep disruption down.
