Universal Industrial Services designs, fabricates, and installs commercial handrails in stainless, brass, bronze, PVD-coated finishes, and powder-coated mild steel for contractors, architects, and facilities teams across the UK.
Hollywood Bowl Reading's 200 metres of balustrade and handrails and the Botree Hotel's PVD-coated brass stainless handrail were designed, manufactured, and installed by one accountable UIS team.
Every package is fabricated to BS EN 1090 EC2 and designed to the UK compliance trio - BS 6180 barrier loading, BS 5395 stair geometry, and BS 8300 accessibility - with Part K and Part M handled in the documentation pack.
Our installation teams, CHAS Elite and ConstructionLine Gold pre-qualification, £10 million each of PL and EL cover published, and a 12-month defect liability period on all steelwork.

Finish range to match your architect's intent
304/316 stainless (brushed or mirror-polished), PVD-coated brass/bronze/copper, solid brass and bronze, powder-coated mild steel to any RAL, and galvanised. PVD is our stated in-house specialism - vapour-deposited at molecular thickness, not plated.

Every handrail detailed against BS 6180 (barrier loading), BS 5395 (stair sizes, headroom, continuity), and BS 8300 (accessibility). Those three standards make it Approved Document K and M compliant - clause references land in the handover pack.

We prefabricate by default using coded welders to BS EN ISO 9606 across MIG, TIG, MMA, and flux-cored, with materials separated in two distinct workshops. Every pre-welded joint is one fewer hot-works permit, fire watch, and fume exposure on a live floor.

Our site crews carry SSSTS supervisors, CSCS, PASMA, and IPAF. As an example, we installed plant-deck steelwork inside an operational Oban supermarket on night shifts and we lifted 40-tonne Leeds walkways through tight access - live-environment work is well within our standard operating range.

BS EN 1090 Execution Class 2, ISO 9001, UKCA, CHAS Elite, Alcumus SafeContractor, ConstructionLine Gold, and Cyber Essentials sit alongside coded welding, WPS documentation, mill test certificates, FPC records, and slip resistance data. One pack, not piecemeal emails two weeks after handover.

Yes - BS 6180 for barrier loading, BS 5395 for stair sizes, and BS 8300 for accessibility. That combination makes the handrail Approved Document K and M compliant. Clause references arrive with the UKCA-marked handover pack.
Yes - we regularly install on live fit-outs (Hollywood Bowl Reading, Foot Asylum Oxford Street, the Botree Hotel). Out-of-hours, night-shift, and sequenced working is planned in at detailing, with RAMS, hot-works permits, and fire watches issued as standard practice on any site welding.
1-2 weeks for a detailed commercial quotation; faster on smaller enquiries. From approved drawings to installed handrail runs 4-6 weeks as standard. Compressed programmes get quoted against your deadline rather than parked at the back of the queue.
UK-wide. Our workshop is in South Yorkshire, and our directly employed crews have installed handrail and balustrade packages from Scotland to central London. Longer journeys are priced into the quote, not hidden.
£10 million public liability and £10 million employers' liability - published figures relevant both during workshop manufacture and on-site installation in live commercial environments. A 12-month defect liability period applies on all steelwork, in line with standard JCT terms.
